College Football/eligibility
Expert: Thom Brooks - 11/8/2008
QuestionHi,
I am college student that wanted to know how many years do I have left to play college football. I graduated high school in spring 2005 and entered my local community college fall 05. I enrolled and took 3 college prep classes that 12 credit hrs. The following year of 06 I transfered to a non accredited d3 school for one school year.
I took the entire 07 year off from college for financial reasons and now I am currently at a community college attempting to get my AA. I plan on going to a D1 Fall 09 and wanted to know how many years of eligibility did I have left.
My main question is did that semester of taking college prep courses in Fall 05 at a community college start my five year clock?
AnswerSteve, hello!
I have attached some websites for you to review. Depending on if you would be allowed an exemption for redshirt, medical, or hardship, you usually have 5 years of eligibility. You will need to contact the NCAA or have your college get an official decision from them.
Take care,
