Question
Hi!

I'm 6'3 279 lbs.  I plan on playing football next year on my school's varsity team. I'm currently in the 10th grade. I would like to know do you have any exercise tips or any websites that could help me get down to a good playing shape. my dream position is on the defensive line. If you could please answer my question it would do me a lot of good.

Answer
Cameon, hello!  I just sent a message to you but it may not have gone through.

I have attached some sites for you to review.  The bottom line is that you're in a development state and what you do over the next few years will literally shape your physical life.  Be certain that you exercise to the extent for the D-Line you seek to play.  Weights, sprints, healthy diet, avoiding enhancement drugs, are all important.  If you have the mental toughness, the durability and the smarts about the rules of football, then you will be great at the game.  Stay focused and get as much advice as possible from the coaches, the fitness centers, YMCA's, and your local football officials association.  The referees have tremendous knowledge and contacts with the colleges.

Take care,

Thom Brooks
