College Football/Who to contact about walk-on
Expert: Thom Brooks - 12/15/2008
QuestionHi Thom,
My question is two-sided:
1) Are D1 schools required to have walk-on tryouts?
2) Should my school have tryouts, who in particular within the athletic department should I contact about finding out the tryout date(s)?
Thanks
AnswerChristopher, hello!
I do not know if D1 schools are required by NCAA rules, but it is certainly to their advantage to offer tryouts.
The secretary at the Athletic Department will give you the answer to your inquiry. The NCAA will not allow coaches to officially interview you except during stated periods, but their office can give you the dates and requirements.
Take care,
Thom Brooks
