Question
Hey tom, im curious to know what exactly i need to do to in order to walk on to a Division 1, 2, or 3 football team such as byu, utah state, or weber state. i am just now returning from a 2 yr mission and have been training very hard for this day. can i walk on even if i dont have a certain amount of credits that are requred? is it possible that i can still try out even if i can not make the team because of certain requirements? (i just want them to know who i am if they tell me to start off at JC level)....do u actually know when all tryouts are for the schools in utah? who do i contact about this stuff for the schools i listed?
if you can help me answer these questions it would help me so much cause im on my own and new to the state of utah. i know that every school requires different requirements and i need to know which ones will accept me or possibly just let me showcase my skills in tryouts. Plz, any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Villy, hello!

I have attached the phone numbers and website for the NCAA.  They can give you the official answers to your questions.  All colleges have to meet the NCAA minimum grade requirements.  If you are a skilled player many college will have an interest in you but you still need to contact them directly to get their exact dates for tyouts and interviews.

Take care and Merry Christmas!

I was in Officer's Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and became friends with a gentleman from Lewiston, Utah.  Bruce Karren can tell you some connections for Utah State (where he and his wife graduated).

Take care,

Thom Brooks
