Question
Hey Thom, I really want to play college football but i never played in high school. I'm eighteen years old, 6'2" and 180 pounds but i plan on trying to get up to 200 in the next year or two. I also plan on going and training to build up my speed. I want to play so bad and don't know where to start. I don't know who to contact or what to do. It would be such a great opportunity for me to go play college ball.

Answer
Tyler, hello!

You need to contact any of the locals that you know.  The Coaches at high schools, YMCA, the TV and radio people.  They will get you directed.  You need to determine what college degree you want to pursue, and then see what their football program offers.

Without any experience, the schools will have little interest in you unless you are exceptional.  You do not need to wait a year or two.  That will push you further away from your goal.

Contact your state's High School Fooball Officials Association.  If you can not make a team, you can be a football official, or they can tell you the recreational / Semi-Pro teams near you.

The main thing is this...... You need to follow through and work on it this week.  Do not wait.

Take care!
