Question
QUESTION: I Would like to know how does the Walk on/ try outs work for the NCAA? I'm currently in a community college and would like to walk on at a D-1 school. How does this work??

ANSWER: Bobby, hello!

You need to contact the Div-I school where you would like to walk on.  They will tell you their requirements/schedules/minimum grade standards, etc.

They more background you offer, the better your chances.  They have Preferred Walk Ons that are invited, but then they have open tryouts.  Their Athletic Department, Coaches, Scouts, and local media will help you with the dates and times.

You should also enlist the aid of your former coaches and players from high school or JUCO.

QUESTION: Thanks Thom.
So it can be as simple as doing good at an try-out and being on the team??

Answer
Bobby, hello!

No, it not simple.  The college has scores of men that want to play but only select a few for the camps and tryouts.  You would be among the elite in America to get that chance.  You need to prepare both physically and mentally.  You need to get advice from all of those around you.  If you choose the college that doesn't need your skill at that position, you do not make the cut.  You need to select the college where you want to pursue your future career through.  If your grades are not up to the NCAA minimums, you will not suit up.  So, your grades are priority.  Make contact with the school.  They will give you the details of their football program.

Have a great day!
