College Football/College Football Try Outs
Expert: Thom Brooks - 4/17/2008
QuestionHi, I'm 20 year old who join military right after high school and are considering trying out for college football after getting out of the service. The question I have is what are the procedure of trying out for college football? Do I have to enrolled in school before tryout? Or is it the other way around? Any tips on the procedure would be great help.
AnswerRoddrick, hello!
You need to contact the Coaching staff of the college you seek to play for. They will give you their schedule and tryout times. If you do not have experience, you will be competing against many that would be in front of you. It would be easier to get on a team in the JUCO, Div III or Div II colleges.
Many in the Military can get you steered towards the teams that you should contact. As you get closer to leaving the Military and joining a team, you will have an idea of their requirements. They will get you enrolled as a student if you will be making the team.
Keep me posted! I'd love to follow your path and watch you get a chance to live that dream!
I want to thank you for every day you wear a United States military uniform. I wear an American pin every day. I coach a men's baseball team and we wear an American Flag on our Jerseys, along with the military patch from World War II, Vietnam era and current patches that match our Jersey numbers, in order to honor all that serve.
Take care,
