College Football/Next step Juco?
Expert: Thom Brooks - 5/7/2008
QuestionQUESTION: Hey Thom, I'm 17 (6'2, 180) I'm supposed to be a Junior, but I had attendance issues so I basically dropped-out and got my GED...So my question is, what do I do now if I want to continue playing football at the next level? I'm guessing a Junior College to straighten out my grades? And how would I go about doing that? (getting into a Junior college)
ANSWER: D.L. Hello!
Determine the JUCO that is closest to you for getting your grades organized. Determine the closest JUCO that has a football program that would allow you to get the attention of the major university scouts. You certainly should do as much homework as possible. Talk to any college where you would like to pursue a degree and play football. They will advise the minimum GPA and core courses that you must complete to be eligible (as per NCAA rules) to play.
Take care,

QUESTION: Ok, see I live in Florida and there is no junior colleges with football programs here. So I'll have to do pretty much all my research and what-not from the computer, so when I go to a certain JUCO's website what exactly am I looking for academics wise? Would I go in trying to pursue a degree as if I were just any other student? Or is there certain courses that I have to make up?
keep in mind, I'm trying to take the easiest road possible)
AnswerD.L., this is no way that is the easy way.
Research the websites below.
You can go to a JUCO, like South Florida Community College until your grades qualify for transferring to South Florida, depending on where you live. They will tell you the courses needed but need to talk with you first.
