College Football/Transferring

Question
Hi. I'm currently about to enter my freshman year at a division III school. I really want to think positive about this as a chance to build and polish my skills and better myself as a football player. I've been playing football since 8 years old in little league. I only played my sophmore(wide reciever and safety) and my senior year due to family issues. I was the starting free safety on my  high school team and tallied 39 tackles, 3 interceptions and 5 sacks. I'm 5' 11" 180lbs. I was in the middle of of a big coaching change and our coach left 2 games before the end of the season and we received little exposure to colleges from our assistant coaches. I would really like to transfer and receive a scholarship from a higher level university. What are some steps I should begin taking to get my name out there and work to receiving my goal or atleast becoming a d1 walk-on? Thanks.

Answer
Marcus, hello!

Contact the schools of choice.  Their secretary in the Athletic Department will give you times and dates.  If your grades allow it, you can trasnfer to a D-1 school, (minus your eligibility in D-III).  You would likely have to sit out a year after the transfer.  If you have a career in D-III that would be a great honor, so be  careful about changing chemistry.

Take care,
