ok, im 5"8, 5"9 around there and i play defensive tackle. i am only 15 years old and going to the varsity level with two more years to play. i run a 5.5 and i weigh 220 pounds with 245 bench and 455 squat. will my height be against me if im trying to play in college. or should i get quicker and try to play defensive end?

Answer
Chad, hello!

The teams like those D-line guys to be 9 feet tall.  Thirty and forty years ago it wasn't an issue.  At your age, you are liable to grow more but if you do not have incredible vertical jump, I would predict the Coaches will put you elsewhere.  Your strength will grow so your height will not be a disadvantage at some positions.  Many have played Linebacker and they've been Prolific.  Concentrate on your strengths, improve your weak areas, and you will be dynamite wherever you play!
