Question22 years old, no HS exp. If I walk on a jr college squad and perform will they grant scholarship to a state university? I really want to go to a university and live the dream, want to avoid taking out a student loan. Southern California by the way.
So Fullerton JC hornets, Kick butt. Go to cal state in 2-3 years. I'm 220 in decent shape.
AnswerRudy, hello!
I have attached some websites for your inspection. If you have not played, the Coaches will have you last on the depth chart until you can show that you can out play those that have the 4 years or more of playing time. If you have the skills, you can make the team, regardless what position, and work yourself into a starting role. It all depends on what level and what the timing is. The JUCO and Div-III schools may not have much on scholarship to offer but you would get a chance for the experience. If you play great, a higheer level may offer you a scholarship (perhaps after you sit out for one year).
You need to contact Cal State now to verify their requirements. You don't want to push the window where you lose an opportunity because you didn't know the rules.
Take care,
Thom Brooks
