Question
Hi, my name is Oscar. I'm currently enrolled in Junior College. I plan on transferring to a four year university with plans on playing for a football team. I've played football throughout my youth in the Pop Warner League and also played H.S. Football. What would you suggest, that I attend a Div. 2 or 3 football program.?  Thanks.

Answer
Oscar, hello!

You need to pick the college where you need to pursue for the educational future where your career will be.  If you are a quality football player, you may have a career in the NFL but you know how difficult it is to make it past the spring training cuts.

You may want to get a piece of paper and actually write down the Pros and Cons about different colleges.  Things to consider is the ultimate degree you seek,  the cost, the location, how far from home and travel, the football program, how much of your JUCO credits will be applied towards the higher division, etc.

When you contact the schools of choice, they will give you the advice of their schedules for tryouts and when you are allowed, by rule, to speak with the coaches and scouts.

Contact the school directly and they will give you the information you seek.

I hope you make the best decision for your future and I hope you become a great player for your team!!

Take care,

Thom Brooks
