Golden Enterprises was originally organized as Magic City Food Products, adopting the name Golden Flake, Inc., in 1958. Golden Enterprises, Inc., was formed as a holding company with its operation division, Golden Flake Snack Foods, as a wholly-owned subsidiary on Jan. 1, 1977.

Golden Flake Snack Foods is a $125 million company that manufactures and distributes a full line of snack food products in the Southeast, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Major manufacturing and distribution centers are in Birmingham, Nashville and Ocala, Fla.

Stein has maintained his ties to Auburn by serving on the AU Foundation Board. He is also a former member of the Research Advisory Council, the College of Human Sciences Board and the College of Business Advisory Board.
