Question
My dad was a High school and college referee for many years from the mid 40's til the 60's. At some point he used a wrist horn in addition to a whistle. I think the horn was for end of quarter and game, but would like to know the whole story. Any help?I did find a picture similar to the one I now have at http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2007/09/04/victorian-wristhorn.html

Answer
Bill, hello!

I have written to 7-8 officials with over 25 years experience.  If they respond, I will contact you with the information.  I am in my third year of officiating and had no knowledge of the wrist horn, but it looked awkward to carry on the arm!

Take care,
