College Football/walk-on

Question
What really is a walk-on?  My son was told he could walk on at a school in Div I.  What does that mean?

Answer
Rory, hello!

A walk on generally has to be enrolled in that college or have the paper work approved.  They do have Preferred Walk Ons (normally blue chips that have been invited with the knowledge that they will be wanted by that team).

The college will verify with the NCAA as to specific times, rules and when they can meet with the players.

I've attached some websites for your review.

Take care,

Thom Brooks
