Question
Can a team come on the field and just attempt a field goal on the first play of overtime?

Answer
Reginald, hello.

Yes, but they would be kicking a FG from the 25, which equates to around 42 yards. If they missed, the ball would go to their opponent.

Unless they feared penalties or turnover, and only needed the FG to win, they would be wise to get the ball closer.
