College Football/Pass Interference

Question
Can you have pass interference if the Quarterback is hit while throwing the football, disrupting his throwing motion. The ball flutters out of his hand, and goes downfield out of control, but the ball is not tipped, by the defensive player, who hit the QB?
Thanks,
Paul

Answer
Paul, Happy New Year!

Yes, it could be called as Pass Interference against the B team.

However, if a penalty is called for Roughing the Passer, it would negate the Pass Interference call, giving the A team a First Down after a 15 yard penalty.  It would not be offsetting penalties.

Take care,
