College Football/Try outs
Expert: Thom Brooks - 1/24/2009
QuestionHi, I was wondering what are my chances if I try out for OSU this year for Running back position. I know Chris "Beanie" is leaving for Pro this year. I am 6'1 220 pounds. I can bench 255, leg press 800 pounds, and run about 4.5 or 4.6 depending on the day. I am trying to get all those numbers better by trying to work out 3 to 4 times a week. I really don't have any experience for playing for any football team because I always had to work to provide for my family since the year of 16. But I do know a lot of plays because I did play for my high school for a year and did study the offensive playbook. What do I need to improve on? Who do I need to contact to try out for them? I will take any advise that you give me.
AnswerYong, hello!
Your size is compatible. Your sprint speed is great! Your experience puts you way behind the men that will compete for that job.
I have attached websites for your review. You need to contact their office immediately. We're getting close to the signing deadline and you can find out if they will set up an interview or advise their tryout dates. Remember, a top college like OSU has many Blue Chips to choose from, so your chances will be better with a lower division school, at least until it is determined if you can make the OSU team later on.
Take care,
