College Football/Wondering if I have what it takes

Question
I was wondering if i have what it takes to make it as a college football player.  I have not played football since my freshman year of highschool, but since then i have become a great deal stronger and faster.

Right now I stand at 5'10" and currently weigh in at 182, but i am working out heavily and intend on weighing at 200 of muscle.   I run a 40 yard dash around 4.7 seconds, give or take a tenth of a second (depending on the take off.)I am also 19 years old and I am looking at transferring to a university in one more year.  Some of my weights i push in the gym are(rep about 8-12times with 3 sets): bench press 225lbs, leg press 700lbs, squats 300lbs.

The position I am mainly interested in is Halfback.

I'm currently working with my friend to get into football shape again.  And I am really determined to make this work.  So in the fall of 2010 i plan to transfer as a junior to a university.

Is there any advice that you can give me? any personal opinion on what you think may happen?

Mark

Answer
Mark, hello!

Without seeing your ability, I could not comment on your chances. It depends on what level you seek to play.  The players in higher divisions get into the blue chips category so it would be more difficult for you to nmake those squads unless you have great skills.

The best you can do is keep working hard and contact the schools where you want to play.  They will give you the dates and details!

With your growing attitude, you will make the team of choice.

Take care,

Thom Brooks
