College Football/college ball

QuestionQUESTION: Hey Coach, I graduated high school last year and I want to go to a possibly division one school to play. I'm wondering is it possible if I do a combine that features my 40, vertical, shuttle, and bench. Then i will send the information to college coaches. Is that possible to maybe get them interested or a scholarship?
Thanks
ANSWER: Dave, Happy New Year!
Absolutely, you should do what you suggest. The scouts have a nose for talent and anything you can show will get the attention of a school that wants your skill. The more people you can enlist (former players, coaches, local football officials, newspaper and sports media people) will be an advantage for you.
When you're competing for a roster spot on a Division I school, remember, they are recruiting many of the nation's best blue chip players so you've got a challenge on your hands. But, regardless if you end up at Div. I, II, or III, school, what an incredible honor and joy it would be to be a college ballplayer. Don't give up easily.

QUESTION: Coach Thank you, that was a great help. Since you said that the d1 schools are recruiting the best blue chip players. Would it be a good advantage for me to prove that I'm just as good or better than those players athletically such as lifting, speed, and quickness? I know theres also the mental part but will coaches be more excited to put more athletic kids in like LBs that can bullrush a lineman and cover a WR? Thanks
AnswerDave, the coaches love that Bull Rush but they also despise the guys that make dumb plays. If you have great skill but lack disipline, then the other players that compete for your position will have an advantage. The player that is mentally tough and more aware of the game and its surroundings, will propser over the man that is just physical.
Take care,
