How is the "home" team chosen for college football bowl games?

Madison, hello!

The bowl committees used to select the home team and then alternate year by year if the same conferences were playing (like in the Rose Bowl).  Many of them now go by the BCS ranking, with the highest rated team getting the Home team nod.  

Once again, it depends on the bowl decision.  Some would flip a coin for home field.
