College Football - college football

Expert: Thom Brooks - 10/19/2009

Question
My son is in his senior year of high school, has been starting on his varsity high school football team since he was a junior. He has had some interest from a few colleges and attended their senior prospect camps this past summer. He got kicked off the team last week because of an argument with the coach.  How do we let the schools that have expressed an interest in him know? What are our options? His grades are good. he is already registered with the ncaa clearing house.could you give us some direction

Answer
Brian, hello!

You need to tell the schools about the reasons he and the coach argued.  If the college is satisfied with his explanation then it will not matter.  They will be proud to have him if he is a skilled athlete.  If he has a behavior problem, the college will not consider him.  So, it is paramount that he communicates to the college that he had a problem with a coach.  I coach a men's baseball team and recognize players having problems with coaches and understand the coaches may be at fault in part, or fully.  The schools know some of the coaches are not as fair as they should be.

He needs to move forward and have a great memory of college years.  He must not give up.
