Question
Recent Nebraska-Colorado game.
Only a few seconds remaining at the end of the game.
Colorado scores a touchdown score bringing score to 28-20.
Colorado was NOT allowed to kick for an extra point.
WAS THIS DUE TO THE TIME RUNNING OUT?
I thought the team scoring the touchdown ALWAYS went for the extra point.
If not, WHY weren't they allowed to go for the extra point?

Thanks for the question, I too saw the game and was wonder why the teams sent their PAT teams out on the field as Rule 8-3-2 provides that following a touchdown, an extra point try "shall be put in play by the team that scored a six-point touchdown. If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the fourth period expires, the try shall not be attempted unless the point(s)would affect the outcome of the game."

In the game you asked about the extra points would not affect the outcome of the game.  

Because of several questions similar to this, As a side note, the officials, coaches, NCAA or the rules Never take into consideration the odds/point spread.  There are some fans that believe points should be allowed to cover the "spread". This is NEVER A CONSIDERATION! In fact most all professionals associated with the game [coaches, officials, etc,] NEVER KNOW, KEEP TRACK OF, OR CONTEMPLATE "the spread, odds or anything associated with betting.  The NCAA football rules support this by not permitting an extra point following a touchdown when time runs out in the 4th quarter.
