Expert: Thom Brooks - 11/20/2009
QuestionMy name is Andrew I am 18 years old, 6ft. 1, 185lbs. I played football for a limited time when I was younger because I played for 3 hockey teams at a time. I never played High School. What are my chances of getting into football? I am currently attending Wayne State University. I want to play I am a leader and I have great work ethic. Do you think I might still have a chance, to prove myself and show that I am athletic, quick, a leader and hard worker? I really want to play again, and I have the heart and will to do it. I really hope there is a chance because it would mean a lot to me. I would also be up for transferring to play anywhere.
Thanks for listening and giving me your expert advice
Andrew
AnswerAndrew, hello!
Your chances are not as good as the men who have 4 years of experience. However, if you have the skill and mental ability to excel, then your chances improve as soon as you show the Coaches you have Leadership and knowledge of the game.
Contact the schools where you would choosed to seek a degree. Talk to their Athletic department. If they think you have potential, you will be advised when they have tryouts. If you do not make an immediate impression, the top schools will eliminate you quickly. Your chances of playing would be better if you attend a JUCO, Division III, or Division II school, without scholarship.
