College Football/Football tryouts

Question
Hi I'm trying to help my friend out in searching for the right college for him because he wants to go to college to play football. He will soon be graduating in January from TESST College of Technology, a private technical college, with a associate's degree. He would like to then go to a university college to play football while trying to obtain his bachelors. We have already made a list of the possible colleges he would like to attend. My question is do you have to be already accepted into a college in order to attend football tryouts in spring?

Answer
Shawnta, hello!

Generally, you do. But the schools have NCAA approved tryouts (like February) and can invite tryouts, some are called Preferred Walk Ons, with scholarship considerations.  The scouts will look at anyone that shows promise.
Getting enrolled means having the NCAA minimum grade standards, which you can locate on below's website.  Call the college he chooses and they will give him the official requirements.

Merry Christmas!!
