Question
If someone walks-on to a 1a fbs college football team as a junior or senior (in college) do they still have all 4 years of eligibility?  Also can that player red-shirt and get the 5th year.  So technically speaking academically that player is a junior but eligibility wise they are a red shirt freshman.  and what about if that player also goes to the same school for graduate school does that make a difference.

Answer
Ryan, hello!

Your 5 year clock runs when playing, but you need to contact the school.  They will get the official opinion from the NCAA.

I have attached the NCAA website and phone numbers.  Call them to see what their current rules are.

Schools have much older man coming back to school and some play football.

Merry Christmas!
