College Football/Walk on Tryouts

Question
I've never played organized football in my life (though i've played about every other sport). Im 6'2'', very athletic, and extremely driven. Grades are definitely a plus (30 ACT and only going up). Anyway, my question is about walk-on tryouts, particularly at the University of Arkansas. Do they have them? If so, when and how would I get one? And then what happens after that? are there multiple practice squads, or just the varsity team? I hope to try for a defensive back/safety position though i would certainly settle for kicker slot. What are the odds of each?
Any information you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Answer
Josh, hello!

Contact the athletic department and they will advise when tryouts are held.  A coach or scout may contact you.
Teams are always looking for the kicker with the Midas Touch.  The DB positions will likely be dominated by men that have played for many years and have a lot experience.  If you are a gifted athlete, driven and possess Leadership skills, then any college would take a look at your results.  You would be on the bottom of the roster since you don't have experience.  So, you need to be able to make up the difference by knowing the rules, the game and show them you have a lot of quality to bring to the Hawgs.

They will advise is you could make the Varsity, or practice teams.

Merry Christmas!!!
