Answer
Jon, hello and Merry Christmas!!

Thanks for being a Marine!!  After my Dad served in Patton's 3rd Army during WW II fron 1943-46, he joined
the USMC and was a Drill Instructor at Camp Pendleton.  I live 40 miles from Parris Island.  The men's baseball team I coach is called the Savannah Bombers.  We wear an American flag on our jerseys and a military patch to honor the military unit that matches their jersey number.  We know the American Soldier and Marine is our Best Team!

Your age is not a negative.  Your speed and physical shape will not hurt the team.  Your lack of experience will be a factor.  The question is, how fast can you learn the Art of Football?  The Playbook?  The offensive and defensive schemes?

So, your very best contribution to bring to the Mocs (why in the heck don't you come down to Statesboro and join my team, the Georgia Southern Eagles?), is going to be your LEADERSHIP.  With your military experience, any decent Coach will know that you can bring wisdom, calmness and and will help the younger men when the game gets stressful, like how to stop that Appalachian State QB and RB when they're heading towards your goal line.

You are not a big man, so how does your vertical jump work?  When you catch up to that 260 pound Tight End, can you deliver the hammer to bring him down?

Try out for the team.  Contact them THIS WEEK and let them know you want in.  They'll tell you the dates and schedules.  Get with current players and start working out with them.

I cannot get on my AOL this morning and have gone through Internet Explorer to answer email.  I have a list of saved websites for you to explore.  You can google them with the sites below:

NCAA.org    (go to eligibility rules and game rules and the different divisions)

Referee.com

Southern Conference

www.Listen2Three.com    (my son's band.  They just released their first CD and you need to get to one of their shows before they get to the big time stage!  They just had 300 show for their opening CD album party and Ed Roland of Collective Soul had them playing at their Christmas charity party in Atlanta this week).

If you are a baseball Stud, move to Savannah!  The Bombers have won 4 out of 5 League Championships and are Reloading for 2010.  If you are not playing college ball, you can join the MABL  (Men's Adult Baseball League).
We have 46,000 members nationwide so you can play Baseball around Chattanooga.  But, you really need to come play for the Georgia Southern Eagles, unless you play like a girlie man!

Take care and get busy with joining your team immediately.  Do not procrastinate.

Stay in touch and let me know when you make the team, and the jersey number you will be having ripped off your body as you attempt to tackle one of the Eagles!!  The Triple Option is back in Statesboro with our new Head Coach, so you better eat your Wheaties!  Those 4 backs will be flashing speed and deception One More Time!!
It will be an honor to know that you're playing for any team, especially in the Southern Conference.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!
