College Football/football gear/uniforms???

Question
For a few years now I have noticed many college football players wearing what appears to be a seemingly thin elastic band around their upper arm muscles. Now, I've noticed players wearing them on their lower legs, beneath the knee. I've asked everyone I watch football with, "what is their purpose" but no one seems to know.  I would understand they might be sweat bands, but they appear too thin for that.  Is this a simple fad or do they indeed serve a purpose?

Answer
Kay, Happy New Year!

It is a fad.  Some are worn in honor and memory of a cause, religion or statement, (Like Cancer Awareness,
Heart, Abused Children and to honor the Troops).  Some are simply worn as an ornament.  They would wear chains and big ol' earrings if the rules allowed it.  They're not supposed to have anything worn that is controversial or draws attention to themselves, unless it is NCAA approved.

Kenko is a magnetic product that some wear for muscle relaxation. Serving as a sweat band is also a purpose, to block not to absorb sweat.

I coach a men's baseball team and am not superstitious, EXCEPT on a Baseball field.........
Go figure.....People like me are just Nuts! Most all of it is done in the spirit of Fun and Fellowship.
