Question
I am currently a freshman kicker at a d2 school.  I had a successful year and am currently one of the top kickers in d2.  I am thinking of transferring to a d1 school.  I am worried about having to sit out a year and having trouble determining if I am going to have to sit.  Also, what are the prospects for d2 kickers/punters at the next level.
Thanks.

Answer
David, Merry Chistmas!

I have attached a website for you to review the rules, but you would most likely have to sit out one year when transferring up to a higher division.

Your chances sound highly likely that your new school would love to see you kicking, since you were above average.  The ball weighs the same and with more conditioning, you can make it go farther than this year's successful season.  I'm certain many schools could look at you unless they've got a great kicker already.  A school that has a lousy kicker will likely want to give you a couple of degrees, a Masters, a PH.D and may even make you President of the school if you're good!!   (Kickers can make or break a successful season!).

Let me know what team you join so I can follow your boots.  I hope they're in the right direction!!
