College Football/Getting to the college level

Question
Hey sir thanks for your time. I am 14 and currently stand 6 feet tall and weigh
about 180 lbs.  I played TE and DE this year for my freshman team.  I have
good hands and pretty good speed.  My goal is to play college football, and I
will work as hard as I can to get there.  But what worries me is my height,
will it effect college scouts opinion on me? I know now days TE are getting to
heights like 6'6" so I am just kind of stuck on worrying about my height.  Doc
said I should get to 6'2" posibly 6'3", would that be a good height?  Or would
scouts not be interested? Thanks

Answer
Jake,hello!

Your height will not be a deciding factor if your skills are top quality.  So, work on things that you can control.  Regardless what the height is of others, you will be successful if you worry about improving your game.  The scouts and coaches will certainly look for the bigger TE, but if they see that you know the game of catch, block and run, then you will be just as qualified.

At your current age, you will be growing over the next 5 years at an alarming rate, if you maintain a good diet and exercise program.  Regardless if you are the biggest or smallest TE on the team, your Leadership, knowledge of the rules and personal motivation will more than offset any other (thought to be) weaknesses.

Get busy and have fun every single day.  It is a joy and honor to play American sports so soak up every second of it.
