Question
Hi Thom,
I'm 6'2 and about 170 lbs. I played football for 6 years and then gave it up when I was a freshman in high school, but then decided to play again my senior year.  I have a pretty strong arm, but I'm from a small town.  I didn't get to play alot my senior year because my dad was our rocket coaching director and didn't get along very well with our high school organization, so i got looked over alot by our coach. I graduated in 2008, so again I have had another year off from playing ball.  I can throw about 60 yards in pads, but i can also punt really well.  I was averaging about 37 yards a punt, and had a long of 65 yards in our last game. I live near Grand Rapids Michigan.  Where do you think the best place to pursue playing college ball for me would be, and at what position?

Answer
Kyle, hello!

You certainly have the tools to play for a college team.  I do not know if your punting would improve, but if you could get that average up to 40 or better, a lot of schools would be offering you a free ride!

Throwing the ball 60 yards is awesome as long as you're accurate with the throws.  So, I can't comment on your QB ability but the kicking game would be more likely to gain a scholarship, unless you either gain weight to be a QB or can outrun the big guys!

When you have decided on which degree you will pursue, then the choice of schools will narrow for you to play and get the education.
In your area, many fine colleges at Division I, II, and III are available.  Contact all where you would have an interest in playing and living in their town.

Let me know which team you join so I can follow your progress!!

Have an incredible journey!
