College Football/College football walk-on
Expert: Thom Brooks - 3/12/2009
Question Ok, so i'm currently attending a community college and not playing any serious football but I did in highschool and i'm transferring to a school that has a football program, I think it's div 2 or 1-aa FCS or something. What i'd like to know is if i'd have a chance, as I'm kind of underweight (Six three, 175, trying to get to 185), i'm kind of fast (in the 4.4-4.3 range) but i just want to know if i ahve a chance as i am, as i'm not one of the strongest folks around but I can handle getting rocked during a catch. I'm building up my strength before I transfer so i'm wondering do I have a chance?
Also, should I go to a junior college first and work from there?
thanks in advance
AnswerAaron, hello!
Heck yes, you have a chance! Your height, strength and speed will have some school drooling, unless you catch like a sissy! Call the NCAA (I've attached their phone numbers and websites) to verify your grades. If the school has already gotten involved with your paperwork, they will give you the advice about the grades and their schedule for tryouts.
At your age, (19-21?), you will gain weight and strength with a healthy program, so your future appears to be bright! Let me know what team you join so I can follow your career!
