College Football/JR COLLEGE OR WALK ON?
Expert: Thom Brooks - 3/24/2009
QuestionI WAS INJURED(KNEE) PRIOR TO MY SENIOR SEASON. I HAD A GOOD JUNIOR SEASON , MADE ALL CONFERENCE,ALL AREA, ETC. WOULD IT BE BETTER FOR ME TO GO TO JUNIOR COLLEGE OR TRY TO WALK ON SOMEWHERE. I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY DIVISION 1 OR DIVISION 1AA. ALSO I AM FROM THE MIDWEST AND I AM LOOKING AT PLAYING OUT WEST. SHOULD I GO TO A JUNIOR COLLEGE OUT THERE? THINKING OF MESA JUNIOR COLLEGE.
AnswerCurtis, hello! Hope your injury heals quickly and that you are able to play. It's a personal decision about playing at JUCO or up a division. Only your skills, leadership and desire can make that determination. If you're all the way back from the knee problem, then more schools wiil be willing to give you a chance. If you play in a lower division and then want to move up, you have to sit out a year.
Call the attached phone numbers on NCAA Eligibility and they can get your steered towards the goal. You will have a minimum grade standard to be able to play.
Take care,
