QuestionI'm 23 years old 5'6 224lbs workout often just for fun.I run a 4.2 in the 40.I played football in high-school at the running back position but did'nt go to college due to bad company so I continued to play semi-pro the coaches had there favorites so I could'nt play running back so I played o-line,that's an odd position i say for my size. I'm not a one position player I'm a team player-leader- and has a big heart for winning and going hard on every down.I can run, catch, throw, and read zones.Do you think good owners/coaches are looking for guys like myself and don't mind taking the time out to see what I can do.Which route is the best way to go for me in this situation. And I was wondering how can I get a NFL work-out in spring camp.[any good advice you can give me will help.] Thanks
AnswerA. Buckman, Hope you're doing great!
Your size will be adverse for playing in the Pros because other men are a foot taller and just as strong and fast. With that known, what can you bring to the table to get their attention? Your versatility at different positions will help. If you can get an audience, it may be that your Leadership will help your chances.
You need to call all of the NFL teams. Discover who in your community are the NFL scouts. The local football officials may have connections. Certainly, the local sports reporters at TV, radio and newspaper outlets are a source.
