College Football/Football Time Clock
Expert: Thom Brooks - 4/21/2010
QuestionHello...my son completed 10 first yr semester credit hrs at a jr college and will have 12 earned cr hrs his 2nd semester. He wants to play football his 2nd year at a NJCAA Div 1 college. Did his eligibility clock begin his 2nd semester with the 12 credit hours and not his 1st semester because he only completed 10 hrs(not considered a full-time student)? How many years of football can he play. He would like to play 1-2 years at his jr college then transfer to a Division 1 college. Can he still get in 5 years of football? Thanks.
AnswerJean, hello!
I have attached the NCAA website for Eligibility. You would be wise to get an official opinion from them and/or the school. If he plays two years of JUCO, it appears he would have either two or three years of Eligibility remaining. They will give you the exact answer when they see his records.
