Attached photo shows what I think is a college football team from the 1920's. I am trying to identify the team and in particular the black player shown in the back row. Any ideas? Thank you, John.

John, hello!

You may have to start by tracing back where you got it, where the last person got it, etc......

If there are any writings, like the name of the portrait company on the back, you can start there.

You can contact your local police department.  They have ways and means but may not be motivated to help.  Post the picture on Facebook.  

Do you have any idea of the team or state?  

Contact local newspapers in the hope of tracing and dating the photo from the 1920's.  Remember, our nations population back in the 1920's was just over 100 million.  So, the colleges offering sports programs were much lesser.  If you can mail a copy of this picture to the major colleges, someone may search the archives and find the similar dress, or see a face they recognize.

I will search and let you know if I can uncover anything.  It's tax week so when I quit cursing the IRS, I'll look into this next week.
