Question
Hey,

I am a 6'1 current sophmore QB and my coach has told me that i will be starting next year. I understand our spread offense and understand Cover 2 3 4 0 1 and basically can read most defenses. However i am just wondering what i should do to increase my chances of playing somewhere in college as i would love to do. I plan on going to combines and releasing a highlight tape after next season but is there anything else i should do? Like increase my weight or lift incredibly more? Thanks.

I understand you want to increase your chances of playing in college.  Well it sounds like you are doing the right things to get noticed in the "general recruiting market", but you are neglecting a very important factor - your grades.  Most high school athletes don't like to hear the reality that grade are very important to getting you noticed,  they also tell the college alot about you as a prospect.

Colleges are looking for student athletes who will come to their school, not be a problem on or off the field and they seek athletes who will graduate.  The better your grades the more likely a college will try to find room on their team for you if you have the physical abilities which it appears you have.  Student athletes who have good grades are not usually problems for colleges and with a good GPA they help the team's overall GPA that is reported to the NCAA.  A student with good grades shows coaches the player is mature, disciplined and intelligent - these are things that are very important for increasing your chances.

As far as your weight goes, let your body natural develop.  You should be hitting the weightroom 4 days a week - working all your muscle groups including core training.  You should also be running at least 4 to 5 days a week for speed, agility and endurance.
