Hello Vic, my question is two fold.  Is there a 5 yard no contact rule in college football like the NFL?  Can a defender jam/collision/re-route receivers that are running through there zone as long as it is a legal hit and the receiver is in front of them?  Thanks, Mo

Thank you for your question. The simple answer is no. There is no 5 yard contact zone or chuck rule similar to the NFL. A defender may make contact with an offensive reciever to ward off a block.  The intent of the rule is to permit the defender to protect himself brom being blocked.  The contact must stop one the offensive player and defender occupy the same yardline.  So the contact must be made in front of the defender and before the offensive player occupies the same yard line or passes the defender.  The idea in the college game is no contact during pass routes.
