College Football/BCS verse playoff

Question
What type of playoff format would you be backing here?  It sounds like a pretty big size scheme if its going for about a month...so thats 4 elimination rounds (because the championship game is still at its normal time) so that means 32 teams?  I would like to see that big of a playoff in D-1 but lest we forget that means shortening the season by 2 or 3 weeks (depending on if there are still conference championship games) and rivalry week matchups such as UF vs FSU have to change their date for the first time since i can remember (it has always been the saturday after thanksgiving).  It's just a thought.  I would like to see a big playoff if any... i wouldnt want a 4 or 8 team format.

This question seeks a subjective reply and I'm not sure my opinion holds much weight as an official and football historian. My thought would be to reduce the number of regular season games add a 5 round playoff system and keep the traditional Bowl games played between Christmas and New Years Day under the old format of bowls where Bowl committees would invite the schools they wanted or invite conference teams to play against one another.

I think a 32 team play-off would put to rest the controversies of who is really #1 when it is all done and over.  I agree that a 4 or 8 team format is too few and I also think a 16 team as in D-1AA may also be too few.

I would be in favor of completing the first 4 rounds of D-1A national championship before Christmas.  Thus, the national championship game could be played after New Years.

I am in favor of shortening the regular season to a 9 or 10 game season before play-offs.  I would also be in favor reserving 1 weekend (i.e. the week before Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day or Friday after Thanksgiving or a Saturday) out of the season to play the Big Rivalry game.

I think the BCS has spoiled the traditional Bowl games. The BCS could take over the sponsorship of the 5 rounds of the play-offs and make it very exciting and successful.

I'd love to see the traditional bowl games played with no regard to a national championship (played between 12/25 1/1).  And the National Championship game be the culmination of the season on the Saturday following New Years Day.
