QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I am a 6'4 185 sophomore in high school. I live, eat , and sleep football. The problem is that I'm a Hebrew (i observe the Sabbath)this means that i will not be able to play varsity or college for that matter.Do you know of any colleges that do not have any games on the Sabbath. Man i love football and if i had the choice of eating or playing football i would be a skinny all-star.
ANSWER: Rikki,
Our Nation has had thousands of Hebrews that would have been incredible competitors on the football field. You are a quality person of Honor to forfeit a Sport for your Religion, and I admire you for that.
The Church will not consider making the sport an exception, so you may consider a Recreational League that plays other days. Contact your YMCA, and your city and county Recreational Departments and they will advise those organizations.
Most college football games are Saturdays, but you may be able to be a Sub, to practice with a team, and then get on the field in an Official game that could be scheduled for a Thursday.............
Have a Great Day!

QUESTION: Thank you for your response and i thank you for the compliment. but i have another question,do you mean to tell me that EVERY college in EVERY city and in EVERY state, none of them have a college football program that does not play on the Sabbath, none of them? Thanks, because i am not ready to give up my dream just yet.
AnswerRikki, I mean to tell you that I do not KNOW of colleges that play other than the traditional Saturday day or night games. In the past decade, we've moved to a lot of games on Thursdays and Fridays.
If I locate a League that plays only on Other than Saturdays, I will advise. That would be neat. Why don't you start a Hebrew League for those in Observance that cannot play on Saturdays?
Take care,
