Question
I played high school football for 4 years my senior year i seperated both of my shoulders and I didnt really know anything about the recruiting process not to mention my coach didnt help any either. But i have not played in 2 years and I am missing it bad. And I have no game film. I am a good long snapper and have good size and a really good arm. I am about 230 pounds, 6 foot 4 and run a 4.76 in the 40. I bench 305, squat 480, and clean 295. I know i have the size to play but with not playing for two years and one year of community college under my belt is playing college football out of the question and if not where do I start? Is there any kind of combines I can go to or do I just make tapes and send them out? And would being a long snapper help my cause any? I would really apreciate your help and thank you.

First, no it is not too late and yes being a long snapper is a great help.  First you need to contact the coaching staff at several colleges where you would like to attend.  Because you don't have film and have had time off from the game you will need to sell yourself.  One way to sell yourself is to offer a skill that the team needs.  You state you are a long snapper.  This is a great skill to help you walk on at any level.

What is your snapping time from 7 yards, 12 yards, 15 yards?  Are you accurate?  Start working on these skills (time and accuracy).  If you can get a face to face meeting with a coach or recruiter in December, January or February make sure you can show them how you snap and have them time you.  Also you need to show them you are a student capable of handling the college course work as well as playing football.

As for getting films, contact your old high school coach or AD and see if they have some of you old films.

There are no combines for college.  There are some kicking coaches who have contact with college programs and some of them do assist long snappers.  You can do this on your own but you need to start a marketing campaign to get you to walk on, so identify the colleges you are interested in, apply NOW!  Then contact the football office.  Hit the weight room, start conditioning and practice snapping - working on your accuracy and timing.

Best of luck and please let me know of your progress.
