College Football/Small School vs. Big School

Questionhello Thom. I have a just thought about playing college football and because I only played my senior year in high school I did not get recruited. My high school team that I played for was very short on players and I was forced to play a lineman position. I am 6'0", 217 pound, and I run my 40 in a 4.71. I have a 4.3 GPA. I think I would be perfect for the middle linebacker position. What I would like to know is if I should try to walk-on at a well known division college such as boston college (D1) or should i try at a relatively small college such as the university of richmond (D1). I am really trying to get faster and stronger so what do you suggest I do as far as workout thanks.
AnswerGabriel, hello! Congratulations on a 4.3 GPA !!
Your size might not be what BC would have available, and your lack of experience would be an obstacle against you.
With that said, your speed and intelligence could make a difference. If you were a durable player, you can compete with the Div. 1 guys. Your chances of making the team as a Richmond Spyder would be better than the more elite Boston College, but you need to contact both schools. They may see your stats and story and want to give you an opportunity.
Please keep me posted so I can follow your career. You're about to start into one incredible journey!
