Question
What would be the best way to inquire; or who would be best person to contact in regards to getting information about tryouts for a Div 1 school?  (in my case Univ of Iowa)

Answer

The best way is to contact the head coach or the men's athletic director or Eric Johnson - Recruiting Coordinator.  Offices for the staff of the football program at the University of Iowa are located at the Richard O. Jacobson Athletic Building just north of the University of Iowa Recreation Building and historic Kinnick Stadium, and south of the Kenyon Practice Facility. Metered public parking is located immediately west of the facility. Upon arrival, visitors should enter the Richard O. Jacobson Athletic Building and check in with a receptionist.
