Question
My position is WR, I'm a junior in high school, I am 6'1, and run a 4.92. How much should I weigh, and how much should I be able to bench for me to be ready for the college level?
PS I am already working on my speed with my dad. Just my luck he is a personal trainer.

Answer
Kevin, hello!  I worked as a Back Judge in a high school scrimmage game last night.  I saw a WR that was maybe 5'10" but quick and elusive.  He jitterbugged around guys much larger.  So, your weight and speed is important but it depends on what type of Offense you want to play in.  You still have some powerful growing years over the next 3-5 years so keep working out according to your team's requirements and learn the mental part of the game.  You will be successful because you have Dad's support!  Stay away from any enhancement drugs and play hard.  If you can access any films on the greatest Wide Receivers ever, or go to Half.com and buy their books (used and cheap).  Study the fundamentals and your "Personal Trainer" will look like a genuis!!

Have a great week and keep me posted on your future.  Hope you play with a team I can pull for !!

Go Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Southern Eagles, Florida State Seminoles and Sebring High Blue Streaks !!
