QuestionIm 6'0, 167, 4.52 40. I'm 17 years old, and I want to play college football, but I had issues in high school and wound up getting my GED. I thrive to get better in football and want to play on the next level. My hands are no problem, I could work on my route running, but I have a great understanding of the game. The problem is I wasn't allowed to play High school football [cause of personal issues] So my question is What colleges accept kids with a GED? better yet What colleges with a decent football team accept kids with a GED?
AnswerBrad, hello! I've been cleaning my boat for two days and did not answer emails. Sorry for the delay.
It is absolutely awesome that you have been motivated to get your GED.
You need to pick the college you choose to attend. Show them your GED Diploma. They will advise if you meet their entrance requirements.
Our Nation has scores of Junior Colleges and Divsion III schools with quality football programs. If you cannot gain entrance into the major colleges of your choice, you most definitely can go to college and STILL play Football. I do not know where you live, but there are plenty of institutions in your area that would accept you.
At 6 feet, 167 pounds, you will be filling out even more over the next few years. You need to be smart, fast and master height jumps against taller defenders.
Call the Coaches of any high school or college and they will give particular advise about the colleges that you desire to play for.
Even if you start off at a Junior College, you will be able to transfer to the Division I school if your grades reward that move. So, the priority is KEEP YOUR GRADES UP. If football doesn't give you a career, you will have the education to pursue your "other" profession!!!
Have a great week and keep me informed about your future success. If you make it to the Big Show, I want 10 free tickets to watch you play!
