College Football/Walk-on Kicker

Question
Hey I am 21 years old and only have 1 year left till I graduate. Ive played soccer all my life and even kicked in high school for a little bit. But I noticed our kicker at USF struggling a bit in place kicking and had the desire to possibly see if I still have it. I'm a realist and realize the possibilities are very slim but I figured it couldn't hurt, but have no clue on going about trying out. Any ideas? And from what distance should I be able to kick to have a chance? Thanks

Answer
Ryan, hello!  You need to at least try to be a walk on.  If you can kick consistently from within the 45 yard line, the team needs you.  USF is a great team that only needs a few impact players to get them to that next level.  You could be the difference maker if you're an accurate kicker that does not get intimidated by important plays.  Teams look at kickers that are for long distance and some for best accuracy.  Only you know which you would be.  If you can kick long and true, you are NFL material and someone would love to have you join them.

Let me know your progress.  I'd love to follow your career.
