Questionhello, my name is donny lane, im 20 years old and im 6'0 230 lbs. of solid muscle that i have worked hard for all through high school. i run a 4.6 40 yarder, i played football all my life i love it more than anything...i think that i would be great in the back field running the ball, what do you think? and how do i go about doing trying out for college ball? or do you think im just wasting my time? thank you!
AnswerDonny, your hours of hard work and dedicated play will not go unrewarded. You are not too old, you sound like a quality ball player.
Your play has a Fullback would depend on which level of college you choose. A team in the Southern Conference, like Georgia Southern and Appalachian State and Furman would love to have your power. But, a team like Georgia or Florida State already has that player. So, your chances of making any team depends on your ability.
You certainly are not wasting your time. You need to pursue your goal and be firm in staying on track to get there. You will be 30 before you know it. I'm 57 and still remember the summer I was 18.......... Get busy, the Play Clock is running.
You need to contact the school where you want to play. Their Athletic Department will tell you when their tryout dates are. If you have any connections with local coaches, you need to talk to them. They will give you assistance in the details.
Have a great football career and let me know which team you'll be running for. I'll support you, (maybe not your team)!!!!!
Go Georgia Bulldogs!
Go Georgia Southern Eagles!
Go Florida State Seminoles!
Go South Carolina Gamecocks!
Go South Florida Bulls!
Go Miami Hurricanes!
Go Appalachian State Mountaineers! (My Dad played for them)
If your school ain't listed, then you better tell those other teams to stand aside!!!!
Have a Day!!
