Question
If a field goal attempt is short, and bounces off of the shoulder of a defensive player standing in the end zone, and is fallen on by a player from the offensive (kicking) team, what is the ruling...touchdown for kicking team, touchback for defense, or something else?

In your play A's kick is a scrimmage kick and you treat it similar to a put (not the same but similar. see Rule 8-4-2 & 8-6). The B player standing in the end zone muffs the kick in the end zone and becomes dead in the possession of the A player. By rule it has to be a touchdown and can not be a TouchBack.
RULING: Touchdown for A (the Kicking team).
FYI B never had team or player possession. The Team A maintains team possession of the loose ball (kick)until it is possessed by B.
