Question
Western Kentucky University is having the L.T. Smith Stadium added on to.  After it is completed what is the maximum capacity of people could you fit in the stands and on the field?

Answer
Bj, I went to another site and find the capacity is 17,500.  When they add the 5,000 it appears 22,500 will be the new capacity (unless they have plans for other sections not mentioned).  Write to them to verify.

Athletic Facilities

L.T. Smith Stadium - Houses a dance studio and a stadium for fotball and track. The stadium capacity is 17,500. - Photo


E.A. Diddle Arena - Named after Western's legendary basketball coach, it housese a swimming pool, basketball arena, and an auxiliary gymnasium. The gymnasium capacity is 11,300. (Concert capacity varies depending on staging.) - Photo
Outdoor Sites
Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Amphitheater/Colonnade - Is located adjacent to the Garrett Conference Center and perfect for special events, meetings, and lectures. The amphitheater was once the home of the football stadium; therefore, only bleacher seating is available. Amphitheater capacity is 2900. - Photo


Preston Center Lawn - Is located directly in front of the Raymond Preston Health and Fitness Center. It's a beautiful grassy lawn, perfect for any outdoor event.


Old Fort Area - Is located behind Van Meter Hall and is known for its beauty. The location is suitable for weddings, receptions, and small banquets. Photo - Photo


Diddle Park - Sits atop Western's hill and is the newest outdoor area on campus. Suitable for private dinners, small weddings, and receptions.

L.T. Smith Renovation
L.T. Smith Stadium is currently undergoing a $37.5 million renovation. Since the 2006 season ended, the phase of the project currently underway involves the construction of the West grandstand, which will include approximately 5,000 seats along with concessions and restrooms. The new facility will also house football offices and locker rooms, a weight room and a training room.
